Shatisha Davis Kinning, LCSWA

Shatisha Davis Kinning is from the wonderful town of Newton Grove N. C. Shatisha comes from a family of 4 that supports her tremendously. Shatisha has always possessed a need to provide support to individuals doing a time of need, whether emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. Shatisha believes that a person should have at least 1 person that can support them through the hardest time and through accomplishing their life goals. Shatisha sought out a career that would assist her with carrying out the motto of being qualified to help the underqualified. Shatisha went to North Carolina Central University to obtain the necessary education to obtain her desired career. Shatisha obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work in 2003, at this time Shatisha started her career working with adolescent girls in a level III group home. Shatisha worked with the agency for 6 years before moving onto various aspects and populations of mental illness.


Shatisha currently has 15 years of experience with different capacities of mental illness, including children, adolescents, and adults of various ages. Shatisha has worked in different facilities implementing different mental health techniques, including, day treatment, targeted case management, intensive in home, and intake coordination and hospital setting. Through Shatisha’s passion to support others, Shatisha decided to further her education and engage in North Carolina Central University’s social work graduate program. Shatisha obtained her Master of Social Work in 2020. Shatisha wanted to be able to provide clinical services to individuals struggling with managing mental illness and mental health. Shatisha proceeded to obtain her associate license in social worker (LCSWA) in November 2020. Shatisha began to build her foundation to be a therapist to assist individuals with healing while finding their purpose.


Shatisha strives to build a foundation with support and trust while working alongside her clients to identify the best modality, coping skills, and life skills to assist them with accomplishing life goals. Shatisha uses a goal oriented, client centered, and solution focused approach. Shatisha works with her clients with different modalities like CBT, DBT, solution focused, mindfulness, and distress tolerance skills.
Shatisha will foster a non-judgmental, confidential, and peaceful environment while facilitating therapy sessions. Shatisha pledges to be empathic, sympathetic, passionate, and ethical and culturally competent to all faiths, ages, and gender of clients. Shatisha specializes in anxiety, depression, anger issues, and stress management along with other mental health concerns.

 

Shatisha lives in Raleigh and is happily married to her husband of 2 years, with 1 niece and 2 nephews. Shatisha loves to spend time with her husband, family, and friends.
