Dr. Shaheda Maroof is a well respected psychiatrist in Raleigh and known throughout the community as an expert in the treatment of children and adolescents. She is a board certified psychiatrist with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Maroof is an active member of the APA, NAMI and NCPA. Her most recent interest is serving on the City of Raleigh's Town Council, trying to implement policy changes for those who need to have access to services and employment. She is known throughout the Raleigh community as a psychiatrist who is collaborative and respectful of each patient she treats. She has strong ties to several physicians throughout Raleigh and with Holly Hills Hospital. She also has a relationship with UNC's Oasis Program to help improve the clinical care of those diagnosed with psychosis. She was one of the first Psychiatrist to hire Nurse Practitioners to work in her clinic and is now in the process of incorporating Physician Assistants into the clinic. SInce 2019, Dr. Maroof has served as Medical Director of the Greenbrook TMS Clayton Center. Greenbrook TMS is the nation's leading provider of TMS Therapy.
Dr. Maroof grew up in India where she earned her Bachelors degree in Medicine. She was the receipient of a state and nationalmerit scholarship in India. She has been living in the United States for 30 years. Completing her Residency in Adult Psychiatry and her Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from Wayne State University and Duke University. She is also board eligible in Radiation Oncology for which she completed her residency at Duke University Medical Center. It was during this residency that Dr. Maroof decided she had a greater passion for helping those who suffer from mental illness which caused her to pursue psychiatry.
She has traveled all over the world which has allowed her to develop a greater understanding of different cultures. She has been in private practice since 1999 and is fully devoted to her patients and family. Dr. Maroof is married and has three children. Her daughter who is a child psychiatrist, a son is a hospitalist and another son is a mental health counselor.
